Community corrections is an integral component of the Bureau's correctional programs. Community corrections staff develop and administer contracts for community-based correctional programs and serve as the Bureau's local liaison with the Federal courts, the U.S. Marshals Service, state and local corrections, and a variety of community groups.

The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Englewood in Littleton, Colorado, is a low security facility housing male offenders. The institution also has an administrative detention center and an adjacent satellite prison camp for minimum security male offenders. FCI Englewood is located 15 miles southwest of Denver, off U.S. Highway 285 and South Kipling Street.

The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Florence, Colorado, is a medium security facility housing male offenders. It is part of the Florence Federal Correctional Complex (FCC). FCI Florence is located on State Highway 67, 90 miles south of Denver, 45 miles south of Colorado Springs, and 40 miles west of Pueblo.

The Administrative Maximum (ADX) facility in Florence, Colorado, houses offenders requiring the tightest controls. It is part of the Florence Federal Correctional Complex (FCC). The ADX supervises a minimum security satellite prison camp (outside the secure perimeter of the ADX) that houses male offenders. ADX Florence is located on State Highway 67, 90 miles south of Denver, 45 miles south of Colorado Springs, and 40 miles west of Pueblo.

Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility is an American Correctional Association accredited mixed custody security facility located near Ordway, Colorado, approximately 50 miles east of Pueblo.

Arrowhead Correctional Center is a minimum-restrictive security facility with 119 line staff and 45 other staff. This facility applied for and achieved its initial ACA Accreditation in 1993 and has maintained National Accreditation since 1993.

Bent County Correctional Facility is accredited by the American Correctional Association. Numerous staff at BCCF also have been awarded professional certifications from ACA. BCCF has partnered with the State of Colorado since 1993 to hold male offenders. Bent County Correctional Facility staff and offenders also operate a CHOICES program focused on educating youth throughout the Arkansas Valley. This program is a low-intensity program that exposes youth to the consequences of choices they make and how those choices can impact the rest of their life.

Buena Vista Correctional Facility (BVCF) - housing medium custody offenders. Buena Vista Minimum Center (BVMC) - housing minimum restrictive custody offenders. Colorado Corrections Alternative Program (CCAP) referred to as Boot Camp - houses minimum custody male and female non-violent offenders who have not previously served sentences within the Department of Corrections.

The Centennial Correctional Facility (CCF) is a Level IV security correctional institution for adult male offenders, with a current facility capacity of 336 Close Custody offenders with 169 staff who work directly with offenders and 16 other staff. CCF is located on the East Complex sitting on approximately 22 acres of land with a total gross square footage 166,085.

The goal of the CMRC is to work with the Colorado Department of Corrections, Division of Community Corrections and Parole to prepare each offender for an orderly transition to community placement. CCC, opened in 1969, is a minimum security facility located in Golden which houses 150 offenders. Many offenders have work assignments off-grounds with other state agencies including the Correctional Industries outlet in Denver.�

The Colorado State Penitentiary (CSP) is a Level V security correctional institution for adult male offenders.��CSP is situated in the East Canon Complex with six other facilities of various security levels.� CSP sits on approximately 80 acres, with approximately 470,000 square feet of floor space. It houses�the department's most violent, dangerous, and disruptive offenders with 342 staff who directly work with offenders and�60 other staff.

Located on Highway 50 in Canon City, CTCF today houses 816 medium security inmates as well as 120 transition to other facilities with 252 FTE staff. Also located at CTCF is a 32-bed infirmary which services all Canon City area facilities and a variety of the DOC�s business offices, including payroll, purchasing, time and release operation, and business technologies/communications.

The Crowley County Correctional Facility is designed with a campus style layout. There are a total of ten buildings, containing 349,611 square feet which are located within a 22-acre secured perimeter. Leading up the driveway to the facility from State Highway 96 is a fruit tree orchard consisting of approximately 1900 peach, apple, pear and cherry trees. CCCF is owned by the Corrections Corporation of America.

The facility currently houses 480 inmates with a staff of 131 line staff and 7 other staff. Many inmates assigned to DCC work off-grounds in assignments for local, state, federal and non-profit agencies, saving Colorado taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars each year.

DRDC is the first stop for all offenders sentenced to the Department of Corrections. The facility is located on Smith Road, just east of the Denver County Jail. Staff at the 480 bed maximum security facility process, test, and classify offenders entering the system, prior to their placement at one of the Department's permanent facilities. Offenders are given a complete diagnostic evaluation including medical, dental, mental health assessment, and personal needs assessments, as well as academic and vocational testing, initial classification, and a custody level recommendation. The facility also houses a 36 bed Infirmary.

The Denver Women's Correctional Facility (DWCF) is�located just south of the Denver County Jail and west of DRDC.� The facility houses 900 offenders and offers reintegration programming to female offenders to assist with re-entry into the community.

Fort Lyon Correctional Facility is located 90 miles east of Pueblo, Colorado off Highway 50. There are 36 significant buildings, 43 employee residences and 23 miscellaneous support structures on the campus for a total of approximately 579,718 GSF. The campus of FortLyon is approximately 327 acres. The 23 support structures are small buildings for water wells and other plant technology uses. Some of the buildings are listed on the historic registry.

The Four Mile Correctional Center is a minimum-restrictive security facility, opened in 1983, and currently houses 499 male inmates with a line staff of 96 and 18 other staff.

Fremont Correctional Facility (FCF) is a mixed custody, Level III institution that houses male offenders. Offenders confined in FCF have custody classifications ranging from minimum to administrative segregation. The facility currently houses 1,661offenders with a line staff of 431 and 76 other staff. FCF encompasses approximately 51acres and 542,000 square feet of physical plant.

High�Plains Correctional Facility�(HPCF) is a 272 bed�Level III�security, adult female prison housing the state of Colorado female inmates.�HPCF is located 1 hour from Denver on I-76 on 22.5 acres of land with over 5000 sq ft of vocational space, 15 classrooms, indoor gymnasium and regulation size soccer field, football field, quarter mile asphalt track, regulation size volleyball and baseball fields, over 300,000 sq ft of outdoor recreational space, computer lab and high tech lab.

The Huerfano County Correctional Center (HCCC) is currently being utilized to house�medium custody offenders or below. The facility has a capacity of 752 beds and is housing�offenders for the�Arizona Department of Corrections.�

Kit Carson Correctional Center ( KCCC ) has a capacity of housing 1562 offenders which includes general population and segregation beds divided into six units. Operated privately by Corrections Corporation of America.

La Vista Correctional Facility (LVCF) is a 564 bed multi-custody bed acility for adult females with 168.3 staff. The facility originally housed the Youthful Offender Program and in August 2006, that population was moved and the adult female population was established at LVCF.

LCF is Level Four security, houses 953 inmates, and has a line staff of�289 and other staff of 26. LCF is committed to \"Correctional Excellence.\" We have knowledgeable, dedicated and loyal staff who are committed to making LCF the best facility in the Colorado Department of Corrections, and a prized example of state government for Colorado citizens.

The Rifle Correctional Center is a 192 bed, minimum security prison located on a 73 acre site in rural Garfield County, eight miles from the city of Rifle. Rifle provides community labor, but also occupies inmates in a variety of programs including, secondary education, vocational training and a reintegration program intended to reduce recidivism. The prison is home to a certified firefighting crew which has responded to wildfires all over the state. The prison has a full-time staff of 57 employees.

San Carlos Correctional Facility ( SCCF ) is located on the campus of the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo Colorado. SCCF supports a capacity of 255 special needs offenders. San Carlos consists of three main buildings with 137,000 square feet. The cost of construction to include start up funds and equipment allocations totaled $22,600,000.00. A 250 bed expansion has been approved for San Carlos Correctional Facility increasing the beds to 505.

The CMC labor crews are utilized for reclamation, beautification and maintenance of the East Canon Complex infrastructure, its buildings, lands and resources. There are 58 line staff and 7 other staff. SCC provides inmates for Correctional Industry programs to include farm, fish, and chickens.

SCF is a Level V facility designed to house offenders of all custody levels.� SCF is the largest correctional facility within the Colorado Department of Corrections, with a capacity of 2,545.� SCF employs approximately 800 people.� SCF is located approximately 120 miles north east of Denver on Interstate 76.

The Trinidad Correctional Facility is located on 640 acres and houses 480 offenders with line staff of 135 and 15 other staff. The facility consists of a Support Services Building, Programs Building, Waste Water Treatment Plant, Maintenance Building and five offender housing units. The emphasis of this facility is the development of good work habits and work skills through the utilization of work assignments both in the facility and in the community. In addition, each offender is provided the opportunity to address their programmatic needs prior to eventual re-entry back into society.

The mission of the Youthful Offender System (YOS) is to provide a controlled, regimented, and secure environment which ensures public safety. YOS promotes the value of education (academic and vocational), self-discipline, and develops pro-social skills and abilities through an individualized phased system which includes supportive aftercare.

CJC houses all individuals arrested on misdemeanor and felony charges by all law enforcement agencies in El Paso County. The inmates housed at CJC are pre-trial and/or sentenced to the El Paso County Jail or Department of Corrections. The overall average length of stay for inmates incarcerated in CJC is 27 days. Over 50% of the population in CJC is sentenced on or facing felony charges. CJC is also a contract holding facility for several state and federal agencies to include Colorado State Parole, Military Installations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. Marshal�s Office.

The Jefferson County Detention Facility, or county jail, is the central detention facility for all law enforcement agencies in Jefferson County, including local police departments.�The county jail houses inmates and pre-trial detainees who have been committed to the custody of the sheriff.�

The Detention Facility is a 356 bed state of the art direct supervision facility and provides food service and 24-hour medical care to inmates. First time advisements are conducted from inside the facility using a televised video system. For other court proceedings, inmates are escorted between the facility and the Mesa County Justice Center via a secure internal passageway.

UPS provides the County and District courts with sentencing alternatives beneficial to the community and appropriate for violators of petty offenses, misdemeanors and felonies. It provides alternatives to incarceration to satisfy conditions of probation. The UPS program enhances opportunities for adult offenders to make a positive contribution to the community.

The Pueblo County Detention Bureau was opened and dedicated in 1980, built for 189 inmates. A need for more beds initiated double bunking in 1993. In 2006, a much needed expansion to the existing jail was opened and houses inmates in a dormitory direct supervision housing unit. This unit was built to house an additional 320 inmates. In 2007 Sheriff Taylor was given authority by the Pueblo County Commissioners to spend 1.2 million dollars in security up grades to include: security doors, cameras, control room renovations and video visitation. The Work Release Program is housed off-sight at The CMHIP alleviating overcrowding. These upgrades were needed to run a more safe and secure facility for the community. At present they are able to house 780 inmates. The average daily population in 2008 was 471 in the main facility and 529 including work release.
