Abu Ghraib Prison

Iraq's most infamous prison. Located 32km west of Baghdad. Originally built by British-backed contractors in the 1960s. Used under Saddam Hussein to torture and execute political opponents. Later operated by US forces after 2003 invasion where prisoner abuse scandal erupted in 2004. Transferred back to Iraqi custody and officially renamed Baghdad Central Prison. Remains operational.
